The reasons for participation in sport are many, but so are the excuses that individual’s make for not participating. With an increasing obesity rate and more young children choosing to forgo sport, there has been significant research done to establish the reasons for these choices.
At present there is no dance program at Grace Lutheran College. This is an access issue as the program and opportunities to participate are not available. Having a dance program at Grace Lutheran College could be beneficial for students in many ways. It could offer an alternative to students who dislike other sports, help to alleviate obesity and associated health problems. Some students may see a dance program more like a social event, increasing the popularity of this as a sporting choice.
